Frequently Asked Questions

 FAQs

  • At Project Speech, we currently do not accept insurance and operate as a private pay practice. However, we understand the importance of making speech therapy accessible, so we offer superbills for our clients to submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement as an out-of-network service. We recommend checking with your insurance company to understand your specific out-of-network benefits. Our goal is to make the process seamless while providing high-quality, individualized care tailored to your needs.

  • Your child may benefit from speech therapy if they have difficulty being understood, are not meeting expected speech or language milestones, or struggle with understanding or using language. Other signs include trouble following directions, limited vocabulary for their age, difficulty interacting socially, or challenges with feeding or swallowing. If you’re concerned about your child’s communication or feeding development, a consultation or evaluation can help determine if therapy is needed.

  • During an evaluation, we gather detailed information about medical and developmental history and discuss current concerns. The evaluation may include standardized tests, informal assessments, and observations of communication or swallowing skills. Caregiver input is a key part of the process. Based on the findings, we provide a comprehensive report and recommendations tailored to your specific needs.

  • A typical session is structured around your or your child’s individual goals. Sessions may involve targeted exercises, interactive activities, or guided practice designed to build skills in a fun and engaging way. Therapy is personalized to address specific needs, and we’ll also provide strategies and activities for practice at home to support progress between sessions.

  • Teletherapy uses secure video conferencing to deliver speech therapy sessions online. During a session, you or your child will interact with the therapist in real-time using engaging activities, targeted exercises, and evidence-based strategies. All you need is a stable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and a quiet space. Teletherapy offers the same individualized care as in-person sessions while providing the convenience of accessing therapy from anywhere in California.
